FREE 15 Minute Consult

FREE 15 Minute Phone Call

If you’re unsure whether PT would be appropriate for you, have questions about the practice, or would simply like to talk through your symptoms and goals before scheduling to see if Rise Above POTS is a good fit for you, you’re welcome to schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone call. The PT will call you at your scheduled appointment time using the phone number you provide when scheduling.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Rise Above POTS is a specialized physical therapy practice focused on helping individuals with POTS, dysautonomia, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), ME/CFS, Long COVID, vestibular disorders, and other complex chronic conditions.

  • All evaluations and treatments are 100% virtual! This allows patients to save their energy for PT treatment, which can allow for more efficient treatment sessions and outcomes.

  • My goal is to provide individualized, evidence-based care that helps you improve function, reduce symptoms, and regain confidence in your daily life.

If Considering an Initial Consultation

  • The initial evaluation is a comprehensive 90-minute evaluation.

  • For those who reside IN Massachusetts, you would schedule a "Initial 90 Minute Physical Therapy Evaluation"

  • For those who reside OUTSIDE of Massachusetts, you will schedule an "Initial 90-Minute Wellness Visit"

  • We’ll discuss your medical history, symptoms, daily challenges, activity tolerance, and goals.
  • Many patients do not have a formal diagnosis yet, and this is perfectly fine! Our goal will be to identify where under the umbrella of dysautonomia you may fall.
  • The goal is to identify the factors contributing to your symptoms and develop a treatment plan specifically tailored to you.
  • I’ll also perform a detailed assessment based on your individual presentation, which may include:
    • Orthostatic testing
    • Assessments to look at HR and symptom responses with exertion
    • Balance and functional movement
    • Endurance and exercise tolerance
    • Breathing patterns
    • Vestibular function
    • Postural and movement assessment
    • Symptom response to different activities and positions

What Happens After the Evaluation?

  • Following your evaluation, you’ll receive a comprehensive written summary and individualized treatment plan within 48 hours including a day-by-day plan for getting started.

  • Treatment is tailored to your current symptoms, functional level, and goals and may include:
    • Graded cardiovascular exercise
    • Strengthening
    • Vestibular rehabilitation
    • Breathing retraining
    • Pacing and energy conservation strategies
    • Autonomic nervous system regulation techniques
    • Education regarding hydration, sodium, compression, sleep, and lifestyle strategies

  • Programs are progressed gradually based on how your body responds.

  • Follow-up frequency is also individualized, but I typically see patients every 2–4 weeks, since you’ll have an individualized plan to work on between visits.

  • Appointments are intentionally longer than those in a traditional outpatient clinic so we have plenty of time for education, exercise progression, symptom review, and making adjustments based on how you’re feeling that day.

  • My goal is not only to help you feel better, but also to give you the tools and confidence to manage your symptoms more independently over time.

Insurance & Payment

  • Insurance:
    • Rise Above POTS is a cash-based physical therapy practice. Currently, the only insurance we accept directly is BCBS of Massachusetts.
    • For other insurance plans, I provide a "Superbill" that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on the benefits offered by your specific plan. I recommend contacting your insurance company beforehand to determine what your out-of-network physical therapy benefits are.
